Weather the Storm...

Rain, Rain go away, my pretty hair wants to look good today!

Ladies don't succumb to bad hair days.. not on my watch!
My BEST tip- apply an anti frizz serum all over & blowout your hair the night before. The nights rest will help your hair's cuticles calm down so it isn't as apt to frizz. Or use the weather as an excuse to get a little creative.

Bling bling...

Do I see a sparkle in your eyes or are you just happy to see me?

Who doesn't love a little glitz and glimmer, especially on a big night out.
For megawatt shimmer test drive these

Glitter pencils ...Lorac (left) or Nars (right)

Add Lorac's brown liner on top of your regular liner for a more subtle look

Urban Decay's fun shadow colors like midnight cowboy or polyester princess balance glitter with undertones of peach, beige or pearly white.

Makeup forever's version packs an eyepopping punch

For more staying power use a eyeshadow primer. Add individual fake lashes for a more dramatic look

Ladies, yes you can have too much of a good thing...
if you are going to play up your eyes, keep the rest of your face neutral!

Spray for the day

No time for a wash and blow dry? Fear not dolls, dry shampoo is here to the rescue. Here are a few I stand behind.

Orlando Pita Voluminizing Dry Shampoo ($28 at Sephora/Ulta)
my favorite because it comes in 3 shades and really gives your hair a boost as well as absorbing extra oils. A bottle last about 3 months with weekly use.
**Style TIP**works even better if you apply a little heat from the blow dryer or flat iron. Also comes in dry conditioner form.

Rene Furterer Naturia ($31 Sephora/ Ulta or high end salons) Another great alternative to "lathering, rinse, repeat". Extends your limp lots another full day. Draw back is it has a musky odor that dissipates after a few minutes.
Bedhead Rockaloics Dirty Secrets ($18 at retail salons)
Nice fresh scent & works well for the price. Doesn't give the root lift that Orlando Pita can deliver.

AVOID- Oscar Blondie dry shampoo
Heavy smell of lemon cleaner. From my experience the product evaporates after a few uses. Sephora claims the brand is fixing the issue. Until then- stear clear!

I Heart Bargins?

Recessionistas....
Marc Jacobs has released a special Mirror Heart Evening Bag to ring in Valentine's Day this weekend. It's only $35-available in red, blue, silver, gold and gunmetal.
Only available from Marc by Marc Jacobs stores.
Information is courtesy of US magazine.

Flushed

Looking for that perfect flushed cheek ...

Try Tarte's cheek stain. I recommend the coral shades-tipsy or eco. It's tops on my "product to try" list. Its a new approach to blush and the creamy stick formula has great staying power.

Another cream blush option is Stila's Convertible Color for lips & cheeks (yes it's mutli-use). Peony is beautiful on many skintones.

In honor the downhill skiing events in Vancouver (Go Vonn!), try Bobbi Brown's pale pink blush in slopes for that cute, ski bunny look!

Hair Now...

I love the messy waves as seen on Giselle, Jen Aniston (my hair icon), Fergie, etc. I found this fab tutorial on these coveted, glam waves.

What you need to achieve the look...

Marcel curling iron (not a spring hinge as is more common). I found mine at a pro show but folica.com is a great resource. Keep in mind it gets very hot (use a heat protenctant or iron gurad) ... but that creates lasting curls.

Next.. patience and a great spray. B List recommends, Big, Sexy Hair brand's Play & Spray.

If you have ever seen my bathroom cabinets or the scores of magazines on my coffee table you know I love all things beauty. I'm starting with a look into my makeup bag
The B List Bag

Best "Foundation" award...
Laura Mercier
Tinted Moisturizer Gives you that fresh, soft coverage for a no makeup , I have naturally nice skin look with buildable. Even comes in an oil-free for my complexion conscious gals. Also a great tinted is Benefit's You Rebel You

Sexy kitten eye product award goes to....

Benefit babycake cream liner
This "cake" liner compact has 2 colors (brown & black) looks challenging at first glance. You have to wet the product and apply with a liner brush. Trust ladies, the added 5 seconds to your routine is worth it. Plus you can control the thickness of the line to create that winged cateye or line your inner rim-makeup artist tricks. 1st reality tv reference (LC from the Hills uses it)

CVS is the poor man's Sephora but I love it award goes to....
Covergirl's LashBlast Mascara In the words of my favorite new jersey housewives.. I love, love love (reality tv mention 2) this mascara! I am blessed with full lashes to my sisters disdain. This gives great volume, added definition with no the clumps!! I am partial to blackish-brown. Also great is SuperNova by Fresh

The so glad I finally tried it product award goes to....
Bare Minerals ID
powder foundation I tried to stay away from their persuasive adds and funny looking creator, spokeswoman for years. One day at a flee market, of all places, I picked up a compact and feel in love (unopened/ unused of course). I reserved the tan color to only summer but recently tried their new light tone (fairly light)Results =lasting , adjustable coverage, no flat powdery look. It does what its suppose to & is good for your skin!

Honorable Mention award goes to (awesome but flawed)....
Paual Dorf
Magic Stick Creamy, thick consistency goes on and stays put, even in summer humidty. It really covers just imperfections. The color selection is slim- color #3 is for medium tan skin, #1 and #2 is for palest in the winter. No real in between which is a bummer.

I have to give a BIG thank you to Brianne for introducing me to the blogging world.
